“There is no such thing as unexplained infertility, just undiagnosed.” Dr. Geoffrey Sher, SIRM
When I was little, I thought it was just as simple as deciding it was time to start a family, getting pregnant, and then having the baby (with some icky painful labour in the middle). And there you go – you get to snuggle with your precious little one!
Unfortunately, I was one of the 8% of women who struggle with primary infertility (struggling to get pregnant with my first child). I used to think that getting pregnant with one’s first child would be the more common struggle that people face; however, I recently learned that up to 35% of couples – ONE in THREE – struggle with secondary infertility (struggling to have a child after already having one or more).
During my second year of struggling with undiagnosed infertility, I had never felt more alone, isolated and lost. Over the course of my journey, I have had the opportunity to connect with other women who also feel lost and alone. Women who are overcome with the extreme stigma and shame all too commonly associated with fertility struggles. While I can’t make the pain go away, I can help other women know that they ARE NOT ALONE.
Want to Connect with Other Women Struggling with Infertility?
I am very passionate about reducing the stigma associated with fertility struggles. As part of this endeavor, I am working with four amazing health experts to offer a Holistic Fertility Retreat for women struggling with infertility. I am SO excited to offer this retreat because it is exactly what I wish was available while I was going through one of the darkest times of my life. It wasn’t until after much heartache that I was lucky enough to find the answer to our fertility struggles – an amazing doctor in the US who specializes in autoimmune infertility.
The purpose of this day retreat is to connect women who share a similar struggle with fertility together with experts for an educational and soulful day promoting healing and hope.
My colleagues and I will present on…
Self-compassion and how it can help you on your fertility journey
Mindful + intuitive eating vs. strict diets to promote fertility
Naturopathic + TCM approaches to help you find the answer to your fertility struggles
There will also be a yoga practice and a mala bead creation ceremony run by a brilliant yoga instructor who is one of the most gifted healers I have ever met.
Space is limited for a small intimate setting - click here for more information or to sign up for the retreat.
